Essential Poses Practice
“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
-Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince
You might be wondering why on earth I would have scheduled an extended practice tomorrow, right smack in the middle of the Saints vs. Browns game. My reasoning is actually quite simple: over the past five seasons, the Saints have a higher winning percentage on Sundays when I teach than they do when I watch the game live, either at home or in the Dome. So I’d like to think that I’m doing my part as a fan to help get our team back on track. And if you’ve participated in previous extended practices on Sundays, then maybe you should consider doing your part as well. Come join me tomorrow from 11:30am-1:30pm for one of my all-time favorite classes, 50 Essential Poses. This is a nice, long, thorough practice that is perfect for level 1-2 students who want to experience the well-balanced hum of the body/mind after moving through a sampling of key poses from each of the major categories. Instructions are held to a minimum so that students have enough space to reflect upon internal feeling states and so that they can savor the silence.
Hope to see you soon!
