FSY’s 9th Birthday This Sunday
“To be rooted is perhaps the most important and least recognized need of the human soul.”
I can hardly believe that our humble little studio has been around for nearly 9 years. The Freret Street corridor looks entirely different now than when we first opened, but through all of the growth and changes that have happened on the outside, this space has fundamentally remained the same. Our mission was to be a haven for internal stillness and silence, a place where people in our community could rediscover a balanced state of being. I still feel that this is a worthy and relevant mission, and I feel both honored and lucky to be a custodian of this cause. Thank you all for all of your support over the years, for allowing me to follow my dreams while serving humanity.
If you’d like to come in for an informal birthday celebration this Sunday, November 17, then I’d be honored to have you. We won’t be serving cake or ice cream; instead we will be serving up one of our signature practices: good ol’ Learning the Ropes. All of the FSY favorite poses will be included, from “Hanging Like a Bat” to the “Titanic Pose.” The class will take place from 11:30am-1:30pm, which I know is smack dab in the middle of the Saints vs. Bucs game. But I figured you could all record it and zip through the commercials when you get home in order to catch up to real time.
Hope to see you soon!
