Mindfulness Meditation Series
“Although you may not always be able to avoid difficult situations, you can modify the extent to which you can suffer by how you choose to respond to the situation.”
-Dalai Lama XIV
I don’t know about you, but I always find myself yearning for stillness and silence on the Monday and Tuesday after Jazz Fest. In the same way that my skin is refreshed by coolness and moisture after having been subjected to the intense sun exposure at the Fairgrounds, I always feel like the practices of seated meditation and restorative yoga are salves to my entire being. Each one rejuvenates me by providing a contrasting experience from my previous two weekends. If you have the same hankering for stillness and silence that I do, then come join Keith Werhan tonight at 7pm for the inaugural session of his 4-week series called Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation. This class will meet on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00pm for the month of May and is open to anyone and everyone — no previous experience with meditation is required. Note also that you do not need to register for the entire 4 weeks; drop-in students are welcome!
And if you are still pondering Mother’s Day gift ideas, look no further than the AcuYoga workshop that will take place on Sunday, May 13 from 11:30am-1:30pm. Valerie Viosca, our resident acupuncturist, will guide you through a blissful sequence of restorative yoga poses where the body is completely supported by props and can therefore drop into deep levels of relaxation. Then she will use her signature blend of aromatherapy, sound therapy, and a general acupuncture treatment to further harmonize and relax your body/mind. Space for this workshop is limited to only 8 students so as to ensure proper support and individualized attention.
