Schedule Changes, New Classes, and Yoga at Work

“Ah, not to be cut off,
not through the slightest partition
shut out from the law of the stars.
The inner — what is it?
if not intensified sky,
hurled through with birds and deep
with the winds of homecoming.”
-Rainer Maria Rilke

Greetings Everyone!

I wanted to let you know about a few shifts we’ve made to the schedule, the addition of new classes that have been germinating over the past several months, and a sensational workshop taking place this Sunday. First, Lori Byargeon will now be offering her rejuvenative Freret Street Flow at 12pm on Saturdays. Meanwhile, Katherine Jilbert’s Prenatal Yoga has moved from that Saturday slot to Thursday evenings at 7pm. Second, we are thrilled to introduce Mikal Matton to our teaching staff! Mikal has been part of the FSY community since day one and has been practicing yoga for 20 years. She is currently participating in our Integrative Studies/Teacher Training Program and is excited about sharing her practice in her own presentation of Freret Street Flow at 7pm on Tuesdays. Third, Emilia Aguinaga will be leading our inaugural, on-going Yamuna Body Rolling class at 5:45pm on Sundays. Most of you who have been attending the public classes recently know how fond I’ve become of the pearl colored Yamuna balls because they feel like elixirs for the spine. Emilia recently completed the second phase of her YBR training and is now certified to teach this fabulous self-care system to all of us. I, for one, am looking forward to learning more YBR techniques because they are so complementary to the yoga practice.

Finally, Tamarin Hennebury is teaching another rendition of Yoga at Work this Sunday from 1:00-3:00pm. This workshop was designed to resource you with simple yet effective ways of incorporating yoga into your everyday life. Whether you sit or stand all day, life has an inevitable way of throwing you off balance. Come learn some surefire strategies for reclaiming balance throughout your day so that you can avoid the pernicious sensation of being cut off from yourself and instead move through life with more ease, enjoyment, and efficiency. Reserve your spot now.

Hope to see you soon!
